From mid-September through the mid-October, Ms. Kee spent time with every house group on their annual pontoon boat rides on Lake Katchewanooka—an LCS tradition that gives students a relaxed, informal space to reflect on their experience at school.
Over the course of nearly 30 hours on the water, she connected with students from every house, listening to their thoughts on what’s working well and where there’s room for growth. Students praised many aspects of life at LCS. They spoke about supportive, passionate teachers who genuinely care about their success, the strong sense of community in their houses, and the inclusive environment that makes new students feel welcomed from day one. Many also highlighted the positive impact of the advisor system, which continues to strengthen student–faculty relationships. Alongside these comments, students shared practical suggestions for improvement. They’d like to see more variety and options in the Dining Hall, expanded inter-house competitions and Sunday activities, and better access to athletic facilities and bikes.
These conversations, full of thoughtful ideas, will help guide the ways we continue to enhance the student experience across campus. As the year progresses, we’ll continue listening closely to students, ensuring every member of our community feels supported, known, and valued.
Students are encouraged to reach out to their Head of House, Advisor, Associate Faculty, Wellbeing Counsellors, or teachers whenever they need guidance—academic, social, or personal.
These pontoon boat conversations are a reminder of what makes LCS unique: the connections we build, the care we show one another, and the shared commitment to making our school the best it can be.
