Seven Lakefield College School graduates of the Class of 2010 have earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on AP Exams.
The College’s Board’s Advanced Placement Program (AP) provides motivated and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous university-level courses while still in high school, and earn to earn university credit, advanced placement or both for successful performance on the AP exams. About 18 percent of the nearly 1.7 million students worldwide who took AP exams performed at a sufficiently high level to also earn an AP Scholar Award.
The College Board recognizes nine levels of achievement based on a students’ performance on AP Exams.
At Lakefield College School:
Two students qualified for the National Scholar Award: Canada, by earning an average of 4 on all AP exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on five or more of these exams. Congratulations to Gabrielle Cormier '10 and Kathleen Jones '10.
Two students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning and average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. Congratulations to Gabrielle Cormier '10 and Kathleen Jones '10.
Two students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honour Award by earning an average grade of 3.25 on all AP exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. Congratulations to Kate Carroll '10 and Marina Wang '10.
Three students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP exams with grades of 3 or higher. Congratulations to Taylor Joo '10, Hakhyun Lee '10, and Manuela Salazar '10.
One student qualified for the AP International Diploma. The Advanced Placement International Diploma (APID) is a globally recognized certificate for students with an international outlook. The APID challenges a student to display exceptional achievement on AP Exams across several disciplines. Universities worldwide utilize the APID in admissions. To earn an APID, students must earn grades of three or higher on at least five AP Exams in the following content areas: English, World Languages, Math, Science, History, and the Arts. Congratulations to Kathleen Jones '10 who wrote 8 AP exams achieving 4 – 5’s, 3 – 4’s and 1 - 3.
