According to a recent press release, Katie Uhlmann '05 is heading to LA to cover the Academy Awards. She is part of the red carpet media team of TTN-HD Production Live out of Boston. She will be alongside TTN’s founder Mark Allen Wood and John Rizzo.
"Katie has been TTN-HD's Toronto correspondent for the past year and a half. Not only has she covered film festivals all around the Toronto area, Katie has also recently covered several festivals in LA including the San Diego Film Festival. She began her reporting career while studying drama at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. While there, Katie was a roaming reporter for the University with her interviews being featured on Kingston Television. Katie has also done hosting for the city of Toronto's campaign on how to "Green Your Condo" and recently finished a new documentary by David Yateman, 'Canada’s Best Success Stories'."
"Born in Trenton Ontario, Katie was raised in a small town. Locally she attended Prince Charles Public School, Bayside Public school (French Immersion) and Albert College in Belleville. She discovered her love of drama during high school, which she spent at Lakefield College School. She played the part of Audrey in the “Little Shop of Horrors” her graduating year. Upon graduation from LCS, Katie attended Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. There she classically trained to be an actress as she earned her four-year honours degree in drama. She has studied acting at Hermonceux Castle in England, at the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake and has also studied “Entertainment and Media Management” at The Anderson School of Business at UCLA in Los Angeles."
"While in LA, Katie also studied with renowned acting coach Aaron Speiser (acting coach to Will Smith & Mandy Moore among many others). In Toronto Katie has studied with such prominent coaches as David Rotenburg, Ron Leach and Michael Caruana. She is also a busy actress in Toronto and has appeared on multiple occasions on the Discovery Channel in such shows as “Inventions That Shook the World”, “Mayday”, and “Ghostly Encounters”. In addition she has been featured in numerous independent films. These include “Teach'er” by director Cody Campanale & producer Alfredo Salvatore Arcilesi, “Mente” by Director Daniel McGuire, and the award winning animated film “Archon Defendor” by David T. Krupicz."
"She is also one of the lead actors in the weekly internet based comedy series, Comedy Made Short, By Director Daniel Christopher Lee & Producer Jonathan Hotts, which has not only been picked by Alaskan TV, but is now featured on Rogers Cable in Toronto as part of Robert Toshoff’s new variety show, 'Public Access TV'."
