As the trees on campus glow with shades of crimson, orange, and yellow, we embraced Take Me Outside Day with our signature LCS spirit. On a cold, crisp morning, students and faculty set out on Lake Katchewanooka for a beautiful misty sunrise paddle—a perfect example of how we bring our values of Authentic Learning, Community First, and Outdoors Every Day to life.
Throughout the day, students and faculty were encouraged to engage with the outdoors during classes and lunch, making the most of our beautiful campus and connecting with nature in meaningful ways. Later, students enjoyed some open play on our outdoor basketball courts, further celebrating movement, community, and outdoor fun.
Spending time outdoors isn’t just enjoyable, it supports physical and mental health and helps foster a lifelong connection to the environment. At LCS, seeing students connect with each other, with their learning, and with the natural world is at the heart of everything we do.
As former Headmaster Alexander Mackenzie (1895–1938) famously said, “There’s always something worthwhile doing outside!” and at LCS, we couldn’t agree more.
