Celebrating Leadership and Growth at the Ontario Student Leadership Conference

We are thrilled to share an update regarding the recent Ontario Student Leadership Conference (OSLC), which is recognized as the largest and longest multi-day Leadership Conference in Canada. The event was held in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

We are incredibly proud of our Grade 11 Grade Representatives: Ben Abell, Wesley Carr, Gwen Darby, Carla Kaefer, Sadie Mabbott, Teddy Macdonnell, and Leo Weir, who did an exceptional job representing Lakefield College School (LCS) and sharing our core values with student leaders from across Ontario.

These students have spent three days learning, connecting, and growing as leaders. They represented LCS with so much energy, kindness, and heart. They fully embraced the spirit of the conference, even showing their school pride by wearing their Lakefield Terrapin Super Hero capes and their OSLC/LCS Super Terrapin hoodies.

The representatives benefited from several powerful keynote speakers designed to inspire students to discover what they are truly capable of:
  1. Cara Filler: Our students had the privilege of hearing from Keynote Speaker Cara Filler, who is known for empowering students to make everyday choices count. Her presentation inspired everyone with her message of resilience and perspective. Cara’s programs offer real-life tips for building resilience, becoming an impactful leader, and making positive choices to create a Game Plan for Success.
  2. Michael “Pinball” Clemons: The conference also featured a morning energizer and General Session with Michael “Pinball” Clemons, whose positivity and passion for leadership were contagious.
  3. Heather Moyse: The students attended the Closing Ceremonies and General Session #4 with keynote speaker Heather Moyse. Heather Moyse is a four-time Olympian, a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist (bobsled), and a World Rugby Hall of Famer. She challenges individuals and teams to rethink their limits, navigate challenges, and thrive under pressure, encouraging them to defy the impossible and embrace opportunities.
In addition to the Keynotes, the students participated in concurrent workshops of their choice and connected with peers from across Ontario through their Spirit Leader Groups, sharing ideas, laughter, and new connections. This experience provided them with the opportunity to ignite the leader within and understand that leadership is a lifestyle and a choice.

We are incredibly proud of the growth and leadership shown by our Grade 11 representatives and thank you for raising such incredible young people. We encourage you to ask them about their experience; while they may be tired, the stories of growth and inspiration will surely unfold.
