Holiday spirit was alive and well in the Village of Lakefield this past weekend as the community came together for the annual Lakefield Santa Claus Parade — one of the largest in recent memory, featuring an impressive 44 floats. Among them was a vibrant and imaginative Whoville-themed float created by the Grade 10 students of Lakefield College School, whose hard work and creativity earned them Second Place Overall.
The parade float was the culmination of months of planning and dedication. Since the beginning of fall, Grade 10 students have been brainstorming, building, painting, and rehearsing to bring their vision to life. Their Whoville-inspired scene included colourful decorations, lively music, and a festive cast of characters — even the Grinch made an appearance to help spread holiday cheer.
One crowd favourite moment came from the float’s t-shirt cannon, firing homemade LCS-designed shirts into the audience to the delight of parade-goers lining the streets.
The Lakefield Santa Claus Parade continues to be a cherished community tradition, and this year’s turnout reflected the enthusiasm of residents and participants alike. For the students, the experience was not only a celebration of the season, but a memorable opportunity to collaborate, take initiative, and bring smiles to the community around them.
Congratulations to our Grade 10s on an unforgettable performance and a well-deserved recognition!
