Celebrating Community and Creativity: Parent Volunteers Help Bring the Holiday Spirit to LCS

The holiday season is a time for connection, creativity, and community—and our recent parent volunteer opportunities at LCS showcased all three!

Parents joined our Grade 11 Green Industries students for a hands-on floristry experience, exploring the Main Campus trails to forage natural materials and learning wreath-making techniques from professional florist Bethany Puttkemery, owner of Smells Like Flowers. It was a wonderful chance to see creativity in action and connect with students in their learning environment.

The festive fun continued with our Grade 11 Green Industries students, who guided parents in crafting wreaths and garlands from materials foraged on campus. Led by teachers Jade O’Keeffe and Janice Greenshields, participants helped create beautiful holiday decorations that now brighten our campus and bring extra cheer to the LCS community.

These opportunities reminded us how meaningful it is when parents engage with their children’s learning and contribute to our school community. Whether through hands-on creativity, sharing skills, or simply connecting with other families, every volunteer made the season a little brighter for our students.

Thank you to all the parents who joined us—your enthusiasm and support truly helped make LCS shine this holiday season!
