On April 28, Lakefield College School celebrated a vibrant tradition of musical excellence with the 2025 Spring Concert—an evening that brought together the talents of 70 student musicians and singers across 14 unique acts. Held in Bryan Jones Theatre and streamed live for families and community members around the world, the concert was a powerful testament to the creativity, dedication, and passion of LCS’s music community.
The concert opened with pre-show performances by Aiden McKlmon, Matthew Zhang, and Seb Sangberg, setting a warm and welcoming tone for the evening. What followed was an exciting and diverse musical journey that moved fluidly between genres, styles, and ensemble sizes.
Audiences were treated to a wide range of performances, including the infectious energy of the Rock Choir, the smooth sophistication of the LAKeffect Jazz Ensemble, and the cinematic soundscapes of the Concert Band. The Lorelei Consort brought hauntingly beautiful harmonies to the stage, while the String Ensemble showcased classical richness with pieces by Brahms and ABBA. Throughout the evening, the concert also shone a spotlight on a number of soloists and small groups—highlighting just how much individual talent thrives within the larger LCS music program.
The evening’s program featured:
Concert Band – Performing “Low Rider” and “Great Movie Adventures”
String Ensemble – Including “Hungarian Dance No. 5” and “The Best of ABBA”
Lorelei Consort – Offering “Hallelujah” and the Swedish folk song “Kisti du Kom”
LAKeffect Jazz Ensemble – Performing “Brown & Blue” and “Chameleon”
Rock Choir – Closing the show with “Iris” and “What’s Up”
Plus performances from students including Maddie Arbo, Ansheng Zhou, Suri Ngo, Viviana Nocom, Alvina and Aniece Wong, Bokyung Jang, Eason Ong, Arwyn Huang, and the student band Koopa Troopa.
A special congratulations goes to our Students in Charge (SICS) of Music who played key roles in planning and supporting the evening’s performances: Bokyung Jang, Cindy Chen, Felix Wei, Shanen Burgis-McFadden, Suri Ngo, Victoria Snape, and Yoshi Miyakawa.
Whether performing in front of an audience or behind the scenes, each student played a vital part in bringing the concert to life. Their collaboration, enthusiasm, and musicianship continue to be a source of pride for the LCS community.
