Remembering and Reflecting: Remembrance Day 2025 at Lakefield
On Remembrance Day, the Lakefield College School community gathered in Chapel to honour those who have served and sacrificed in times of war and peace. The service brought together students, faculty, and staff for a moving and reflective ceremony, blending music, poetry, and stories from our own history.
The program featured heartfelt performances by the Grade 12 Music Class, the Lorelei Consort Choir singing Wayfaring Stranger, and the Rock Choir performing Charlie Boy by The Lumineers. Dance, readings, and archival stories enriched the service, offering both reflection and insight into the experiences of those who came before us.
One of the most solemn moments of the day came as students and staff stood together to speak the names of Lakefield alumni who gave their lives in service. This tradition is a powerful reminder of the personal legacies that continue to live within our community.
The ceremony concluded with a transition talk on the significance of remembrance, followed by Veda ’26 performing The Last Post and Reveille, with a minute of silence between. The Chapel also reflected on the closing reading, We Are the Dead, bringing the service to a quiet and contemplative close.
Through music, words, and shared reflection, this year’s Remembrance Day service honoured both history and community, reminding us all of the courage, sacrifice, and enduring spirit of those who served.
