Congratulations to our 2022/23 Co-Head Students

The election to select the Co-Head Students for the 2022/23 year was held last week.

Congratulations to Abby Reeds ’23 and Griffin Mbonda ’23 who were elected by their peers and LCS staff in a vote that took place on the morning of April 22. Both Abby and Griffin are excited about being selected as Co-Head Students and they are looking forward to leading the student body next year.

“Being a leader of the LCS community is more than just standing on the podium and providing monthly updates. It gives me a distinctive platform to help promote the unique value propositions that LCS stands for in the Canadian education space. It’s about listening and being part of the conversation. It’s about leading by example. It’s about doing the right thing when no one is watching. It’s about being true to myself so that who I am on the inside aligns with the way I relate to people and execute my duties on the outside.” - Griffin ’23

Abby ’23 also addressed what being a leader means to her, saying, “Being open, warm, and receptive to feedback. At LCS, everyone wants to lead in their own way and we all have countless ideas for what we'd like to see change or improve in the school. Being a good leader means putting your own opinions aside and working towards a goal that will satisfy the community as a whole. To be a leader is to be a trusted spokesperson for a group, and be someone dependable and friendly that they can trust to represent them.”

When we asked Griffin ’23 and Abby ’23 what they are most excited about for their new roles, they said:

“Fostering leadership in the community. I'm excited to work with the other Grads and offer them support in their SIC roles, and I can't wait to work with next year's Grade Reps and encourage their leadership of the younger grades.” - Abby ’23

“I am excited to be someone the student body can look up to. I am excited to facilitate the synergies amongst our talented pool of student leaders in a spirited and engaging way. I welcome the opportunity to further grow my leadership and facilitation skills.” - Griffin ’23

We extend our congratulations, also, to each of the six nominated candidates who shared their perspectives of leadership with the school last week. Sadie Rubin ’23, Rosalie Bujold '23, Max Wenborne '23, and Ben Freeman '23 are to be commended for their service to the school. We look forward to seeing the leadership skills of the entire Class of 2023 next year!
