2017/18 Co-Head Students Announced

The election to select the Co-Head Students for the 2017/18 year was held this week.

Jack Campbell and Madison Sheward were elected by their peers and staff in the vote that took place on Thursday morning.

Jack came to in Grade 9 and Madison arrived in Grade 10. Both Jack and Madison are excited about being selected as Co-Head Students and they are looking forward to leading the student body next year.

In Madison’s candidate speech she described how her time at LCS has made such a positive change in her life, “Coming to LCS from a local high school, I truly appreciate the incredible impact made by our teachers who inspire us to be ourselves, leaders, and believe that anything is possible.  Through LCS, I have developed friendships with people from all around the world that I would not have had the chance to meet, and for that I am truly grateful…I believe in being open to new possibilities and approaching life with a positive attitude. I believe that each one of us has the power and ability to make a difference in this world, and that the only limits we face in life are those we set for ourselves. Most importantly, I believe in being kind, compassionate and inclusive of others. These are the attributes that I would bring to the role of Co-Head…”

In Jack’s candidate speech shared how he has received so much from LCS and is looking forward to giving back next year, “During the 2016 March Break I went on a service trip to Costa Rica, and found it to be the most satisfying and culturally enlightening experience of my life. Almost immediately after, I went on the very first LCS leadership trip to Boston, led by Mr. O’Grady and Dr. Betsy McGregor. It was a truly incredible adventure, and helped me discover my passion and drive in life more than I can put into words. Since then I have continued to stay as involved in LCS as possible, starting a student book club last spring as well as joining Concert Choir, THRIVE and participating in a three-week French language exchange to Senlis, France this year. I will never be able to thank LCS enough for what they’ve allowed me to be a part of and accomplish, and my hope as Co-Head student is to be able to give back and make the same experience possible for all students to come.”

The school community is also grateful for the participation of the other candidates in the election. Allie Avard, Betsy Macdonnell, Joe Gennaro and Quinn MacMillan are to be commended for their service to the school. We look forward to the leadership by entire Class of 2018 next year!
