Student-Led Initiatives for Global Climate Change

by Madia McGowan '20, Co-Head

On Friday, September 27, the halls came alive as the student body made their way to The Grove to rally. Inspired by Greta Thunberg and her global influence, the student leadership class, along with the LEAF environmental club, created and presented five initiatives to work towards during the year.

  1. Climate Action Rally joining many other students around the world
  2. Reduce single-use plastic around our school through the use of reusable water bottles.
  3. Pilot a Clean Plate Challenge in our dining hall to bring awareness to food waste
  4. Implement additional compost and recycling bins around campus and within the residences.
  5. Plant a tree on Earth Day as a community in recognition of students taking a stand.
