LWL Certificate: Exploring and Creating Film

By Mr. Iain Beaumont

This Spring as part of the Learning With Lakefield – Remotely: Certificate enrichment program, LCS offered a learning module that explored the history and creation of film, taught by Mr. Iain Beaumont. Course content included the history of the film medium, different genres of film and connecting themes, scriptwriting, editing tools, and a study in blockbuster films. As part of the course, participants had to write, cast, direct, shoot, edit, and score their own short video projects.
The 10-hour module was a way for students to connect to a medium that they appreciate and was a brief look at the immense and ever-growing genre. Some students chose to create solo-style films that featured only one actor, while others involved their families in their creative endeavours. All participants engaged enthusiastically with the course; some submitted work that shone with their personality and demonstrated their commitment to their learning and growth.
Included are only a small sample of the incredible work contributed by current and future LCS students:
"Exploring and Creating Film" with Mr. Beaumont will run a second time in our summer session of the Learning with Lakefield – Remotely: Certificate enrichment program
