Grove Prep for Grade 9 | LCS Summer Academy

This week, our Grove Prep summer campers developed self-confidence as they advanced their academic knowledge in math, science, and English with the guidance of our supportive program instructors. One example of a lesson saw our young campers focused on developing collaboration, communication, and critical thinking skills as they practiced math problems. In partners, they worked on "Box Problems" for which they used logic, reasoning, and other problem-solving methods to solve unknown numbers in a 3x3 box. During this task, the focus of the group was palpable; there was a hum amongst them as they diligently worked on the project at hand. It has been a joy to see students come together, in person, to have authentic and interactive experiences, such as these, after a year of hybrid learning.

After a morning of mental exercise, they headed outdoors to move their bodies in the summer sunshine. From exploring campus through geocaching and scavenger hunts to playing beach volleyball, tennis, and badminton, to learning the climbing wall, and making use of our spectacular waterfront on Lake Katchewanooka, it has been a very busy and fun-filled week.

After five days of being away from home, LCS experience returned to me a happy, healthy, talkative boy. One who had aspirations for the return and for his future. I can only, joyfully imagine ,what the years will offer. Thank you to all that coordinated and participated in the Grade 9 Grove Prep. A happy Mama
