On Monday, Canadians took to the polls to participate in the federal election. Meanwhile, Mr. Morton's Grade 10 Civics class learned about the rights and responsibilities of being an active citizen in a democratic society as they engaged in a mock election!
Leading up to the mock election, Mr. Morton’s class learned about political parties in Canada and their platforms and beliefs. They also reviewed the Canadian electoral process and discussed the right to vote.
“The main highlight of the class for me was getting to see them practice exercising their civic duty and getting involved in Canadian politics,” said Mr. Morton.
While Canadians have already learned the results of the election, the Grade 10 class will be on the edge of their seats until Monday when the mock election results will be revealed.
