Our Grade 11 and 12 students have had an eventful year filled with exciting mathematics competitions, where they have demonstrated their exceptional abilities and achieved remarkable success. From challenging local tournaments to prestigious national and international competitions, our students have consistently showcased their passion for mathematics and their commitment to excellence. Their dedication and hard work have yielded impressive results, with many of them securing top rankings and earning accolades for their outstanding performances. We applaud the perseverance and mathematical talent of our Grade 11 and 12 students and eagerly anticipate their future accomplishments in the world of mathematics.

American Mathematics Contest 12 (AMC 12)

American Mathematics Contest 12 (AMC 12)—A multiple choice contest for students in grades 11 and 12 that occurs in November; organized by the Mathematical Association of America.

Canadian Senior Mathematics Contest

A long answer contest that is written in November, organized by the University of Waterloo. Responses are assessed not just for a correct final answer, but for the form, style, and clarity of the entire solution. The maximum possible score is 60.

Zone Honour Roll—Lakefield’s geographic zone for the Canadian Senior Mathematics Contest contest includes all schools in Pickering, Port Hope, Whitby, Lindsay, Peterborough, Courtice, Bowmanville, Port Perry, Oshawa, and the Haliburton area. Within this area, the following students earned Honour Roll positions.

Fermat Contest

A multiple choice contest typically written by grade 11 students that occurs in February, organized by the University of Waterloo. The maximum possible score is 150 points. 16819 students participated worldwide this year.

Zone Team Results—The combined score of this group of three students earned Lakefield College School 14th place in our area of Ontario, which includes all schools in Pickering, Port Hope, Whitby, Lindsay, Peterborough, Courtice, Bowmanville, Port Perry, Oshawa, and the Haliburton area. Trinity College School placed 4th.

A contest that includes both multiple choice and long answer questions, typically written by grade 11 or 12 students that occurs in April, organized by the University of Waterloo. The maximum possible score is 100 points.

Zone Team Results—The combined score of this group of three students earned Lakefield College School 2nd place in our area of Ontario, which includes all schools in Pickering, Port Hope, Whitby, Lindsay, Peterborough, Courtice, Bowmanville, Port Perry, Oshawa, and the Haliburton area. We missed first place by just three points. Trinity College School placed 3rd.

Lakefield College School is a private, coeducational boarding and day school for students in grades 9 through 12, located in Lakefield, Ontario, Canada.
