1st Boys’ Rugby
Coaches: Peter Andras, Zach Barr, Garret Hart, Travis Fuchs, Colin Simpson
On May 11, the 1st Boys’ Rugby Team (A side) took to the field for their third tournament of the year. The boys improved on their 5-1 record by clinching another 3 wins, beating Ridley College (29-5), Hillfield Strathallan (25-7) and Royal St. George’s College (39-0). Since the first game of the season, no team has scored more than one try. The 1st Boys’ Rugby team are now the team to beat. The boys will have to up their discipline and focus as they move forward. The team is excited to build on their previous 8 straight wins next week.

The 1st Boys’ Rugby Team (B side) were limited by numbers and only able to field 8 players this week. With the short bench, it was a serious task to play the four scheduled games. Our first two matches were close but they came up a little short. They found themselves down 24 to Rousseau Lake in the first half, but they managed to turn this around in the second and half.  The team was flawless in their comeback shutting down the team from Rosseau and finished with a final of 24-21. The boys then played Greenwood in their second game and came away with a 19-14 win. Again, a flat start and the found themselves down 19 but charged back to put up 14 points and pressure the Greenwood team right into the end. The boys finished the day with an impressive 42-12 win against Hillfield Strathallan. Matt Lovick scored the majority of the points today with 37 in the final game alone! The team finished 2 and 2 as Country Day School forfeited their league games.

1st Ultimate
Coaches: Todd Melville, Mary Elizabeth Konrad
The 1st Ultimate team travelled to Beavermeade Park on Tuesday to play in a tournament comprised of 16 high school teams from across the region.  Under blue skies, the team played five (shortened) games and went 3-1-1 overall, winning the consolation pool.  Strong defensive play from Ben Katsof, Rupert French, Adam Stainrod and Clara Zhang led the team while on offense Trevor Smith, Loran Hale, Charlie Hooke-Wood, Keith Forsythe and Juliette Polito made the score sheet with goals and assists.  Playing in their first tournament were Jheeven Salvarajah, Alex Reed and James Baker, who had increasing playing time as the day went on and adjusted well to the pace and demands of competitive tournament play.  Well done!

The very next day, the team played a home league-game against Crestwood Preparatory School and the experience from the previous day showed clearly on both defense and offense.  Juliette Polito and and Keith Forsythe led the way in scoring as the LCS easily took half 8-2. The strong play continued in the second half of the game with LCS taking the win, and clinching a playoff spot, with a commanding 15-4 victory.  The team's next game is at home on May 18 against De La Salle College.

1st Girls’ Soccer
Coaches: Janice Runza, Rebecca Calder
The 1st Girls' Soccer team has played a number of games in the recent weeks, with successful results.

On Friday April 29, 2016 the team travelled to Toronto to play The York School on turf and won 5-3 - Sequoia Richards and Rachel Thomson each scored two and Frederique Roy finished it off with one.

On Saturday April 30, 2016 the team played an exhibition game at Trinity College School and, after a slow first half, were able to come away with a win by a score of 4-0.   Rachel Thomson scored a hat trick and Clara Mindjimba, one of our Junior players, scored the 4th.  The shutout goes to Hannah Forestell!

On Friday May 6, 2016, the team battled one of the toughest teams in our division, Toronto French School, at home.  Once the game started, and some nerves were shaken off, the team found their groove and came together as team, winning 4-2.  Rachel Thomson was able to find the net twice and Frederique Roy and Caitlin Lovick each scored one.

Finally, on Wednesday May 11, 2016, the girls faced the undefeated Holy Trinity School at LCS.  Although the warm weather made it challenging for the girls at times, they dug deep for the entire 90 minutes and came away with a 5-1 win.  Frederique Roy was on fire scoring 4 goals, and Sequoia Richards with one.
The team will face Albert College in Belleville on Saturday May 14 and then their final league game will be at home on Wednesday May 18 against Trinity College School.

The coaches are incredibly proud of the effort of this team and are looking forward to continuing the winning streak throughout the next week.  The players have worked hard at improving their strength as a team and it is paying off.
Congratulations to the team!

On Saturday, the LCS Terrapins took the field against the TCS Bears. LCS started the game two girls short, but that did not quench their spirits! Right off of the first kickoff the girls were out to prove what they could do. They quickly marched TCS down the field through several phases of open play. LCS retained the ball displaying strong rucking and passing skills and Reagan MacDonald crossed the try line to put LCS ahead 5-0. Throughout the rest of the game LCS fought valiantly and held TCS at bay impressively well. Unfortunately, TCS eventually capitalized on their constant two person advantage and their large team where they were able to make several substitutions, and ended up winning the game 22-5. This is an incredibly impressive score for LCS given that we only had 13 girls! Many tries were saved by Tess Wilson's incredible tackling abilities, and Tara Piggott's rucking skills! After a few injuries to LCS, TCS agreed to end the game playing seven aside, at which point LCS won 12-0 with tries from Reagan MacDonald and Allie Avard!

Wednesday marked our final regular season game against the league's strongest team, Country Day School. LCS was immediately on defense due to CDS' strong attacking skills, and despite several early tries the LCS girls continued to fight valiantly and hold their heads high. CDS eventually made some substitutions which really helped to even the game and LCS was able to start generating some offence. Elena Martinez-Sanchez scored two tries off nice runs, and Allie Avard had a well-deserved try to close out the scoring for the day. The final score was 35-15. The girls are very excited to debut their 7s skills this weekend - keep an eye out for those results!
