A Night in the Woods

By Alaina Connelly

On Friday,October 14, Mr. Johnston, Mr. Andras and Ms. Connelly's Grade 11 OE classes went on their overnight to Northcote campus. The 37 students and four staff members pushed off at 4:00 p.m. for their canoeing adventure. While at Northcote, students set up their own camp sites and cooked their own dinner and breakfast.

The evening program included a night walk and star gaze, journaling by the fire and a scavenger hunt by moonlight. Despite the chilly temperatures, the three classes had a successful experience. The paddle home on Saturday was perfect - with blue skies, bright red and yellow leaves and no wind. The Grade 11 overnight provides students the opportunity to demonstrate their camping skills while getting to know their peers in a unique setting. Thank you to everyone who took part, it was a success!
