On Thursday, May 8, 27 students rose to the challenge and completed the second leg of the Ondaatje Challenge: the 15km bike ride. With just two events left in this year’s series, the momentum is building — and so is the excitement!
It was a beautiful evening for a ride, and our students gave it their all on the familiar out-and-back course along River Road, starting near Savage Arms and looping through the Trent-Severn Waterway parking lot. Each rider set off 30 seconds apart, racing the clock and themselves.
To earn the Ondaatje Medal, students must complete each challenge within 10 percent of the 10-year average winning time for their bike and gender category.
The Standards of Excellence for 2025 are:
15km Road Bike Female: 33:29
15km Hybrid Bike Female: 36:51
15km Mtn Bike Female: 35:51
15km Road Bike Male: 29:48
15km Hybrid Bike Male: 32:22
15km Mtn Bike Male: 33:49
Congratulations to all participants!
