1st Girls’ Volleyball
Coaches: Tina St. John, Natasha Turner, Colin Simpson
On Wednesday, the 1st Girls' Volleyball team faced long time rival Country Day School. The girls were full of energy and enthusiasm to start the game and easily led the first set 25-12. The court was controlled by our vocal and focused setter, Alex Rousseau, and had some great attacks from Lexie Krocker and Hannah Forestell.
For the second set Madi Stillman stepped up as setter for the first time. She excelled at the net demonstrating great set-ups and strong attacks. Nikki Cannon served some strong floaters to back court and showing her strength as the team's rookie! The girls struggled to maintain a lead but came up on top winning 25- 20.
In their final set, nerves were high and the girls went point for point with CDS. Thanks to some powerful serves from Abby Lindsay and some great attacks from Sequoia Richards, and Rachel Thomson the girls fought hard for their win 25-21.
This is the first three straight games win of the year for LCS. A great game for all players!
The game was live streamed online, where the game can be watched in its entirety.
1st Boys’ Hockey
Coaches: Clark Davis, Sean Munoz
The 1st Boys' Hockey team resumed regular season play this week as they visited the newly constructed ice complex at St. Andrew's College in Aurora. The team was looking to build off of their positive play from their previous game against Adam Scott the week prior. However, St. Andrew's Junior Varsity team had other plans as they slowly took over the game with size and skill. The LCS boys did show some occasional flashes as Gabe Lalancette scored on a 2-on-0 in the 2nd period while Mike Hudson put together a hard-fought shift with a goal in the 3rd. Justin Gallant and Alex Babineau also added to their point totals with an assist apiece. Scott Murphy was very steady in goal but could not control the overwhelming number of scoring chances and shots generated by the home team. Final score - St. Andrew's 8, Lakefield 2. The boys will continue their mid-season road trip against Crescent School next Wednesday in Toronto.
Jr. Boys’ Hockey
Coaches: Ian Armstrong, Jeff Mills
Playing their second home game in two weeks, the Jr. Boys' Hockey team was eager to show off their updated line up, with the loss of two players to Australia on exchange. Unfortunately, their guests from Country Day School had other plans, earning a victory over the boys in red and green.
While LCS’ team put forth a strong effort, focusing on improved puck possession and net presence, the were unable to score on CDS' goaltender. Notable performances included the new and improved green line of Crawford Dobson and Jordan Tucker as well as the strong goaltending of Jack Campbell. Centremen Brendan Rutherford and Tommy Quick played every other shift and were effective at both ends of the rink; they are becoming strong 200 foot players.

1st Boys’ Basketball
Coaches: Derek Doucet, Adam Ross
The Lakefield College School 1st Boys’ Basketball team travelled to Crestwood Preparatory College to take on the Lions. LCS got off to a quick lead with great on the ball pressure and lane anticipation which caught CPC on their heels. CPC adapted in the second quarter and brought the score to within a few points at the half. In the second half, CPC came back with quick outlets and utilized their Big Man who scored 25 points in the game. In the 4th quarter, the LCS boys were tired and couldn't maintain the pressure and ended losing the game 49-36 in a hard fought battle. Ali Attyani scored 9 points for the LCS Terrapins who will face off against CPC again next Wednesday at home.
Jr. Boys’ Basketball
Coaches: John Braeckman, Stephanie Kruzich
Despite a 25 - 41 loss to Crestwood Prep, our boys had the best game of their season. By being patient, playing the plays they know well and being aggressive on offense, they managed to put points on the board in every quarter. Points were scored by Niko Wahlberg (9), Stuart Gerus (6), Matt Lawes (4), Konstantin Stoll (4) and Bernardo Castillon Gomez and Arsh Momi (1 point each). The boys are eagerly awaiting another chance to play Crestwood again next Wednesday on home turf! Let’s hope the home crowd can help give the boys the win they deserve.
