1st Boys’ Hockey
Coaches: Clark Davis, Sean Munoz
The 1st Boys' Hockey team took to the ice Wednesday afternoon at Lakefield Arena to play their first and only meeting against visiting Upper Canada College.  Carrying their momentum from the previous contest, the "noise line" of Tristan Walsh, Justin Gallant, and Wil Brawn were at it again -spending the majority of their shifts in the offensive zone and creating havoc for the UCC defence.

Arlo Clarkson had a strong outing on the blue line, making smart plays up the boards on breakouts and creating several scoring chances with some quick shots from the point.  Despite their hard work in and around the crease, the boys were snake-bit by hitting the post four times.  Adrien Mindjimba finally managed to take advantage of a neutral zone turnover after stealing the puck from the defenceman and beating the goaltender on a beautiful backhand deke in the 3rd.  Antoine Rapp was also rock-solid in goal, and made a handful of great pad saves when it looked like the game was out of reach.  Final score - Lakefield 1, UCC 5.  The team will look to rebound against Hillfield Strathallan College in a home and home series next Wednesday and Friday.

Jr Boys’ Hockey
Coaches: Ian Armstrong, Jeff Mills
Playing with extraordinary heart and conviction, but with only ten skaters, the Jr. Boys’ Hockey team knew that it had a battle facing them; namely the 1st place team from De La Salle College.

However, led by the acrobatic goaltending of Grant Tucker, the plucky young men in red and green competed hard for every inch of ice and every loose puck for the entire game.  While LCS lost, Coaches Mills and Armstrong could not have been prouder of the work ethic, loyalty, and discipline that the team demonstrated.  Playing strong teams like DLS only brings out the best in Lakefield's players.

1st Alpine Racing
Coaches: Peter Andras, Katrina Brennan
Congratulations to the Alpine team on a strong finish to a very successful season! The team competed in the CISAA Championships at Craigleith in Collingwood. As a new racer this season, Otto Jonetzki had a great finish completing both his races and finishing 15th overall in the Level 1 Boys. In the Level 2 Boys division, Carter McKnight had an incredible first run, finishing 2nd overall and only sixteen-hundredths of a second behind the 1st place racer. Unfortunately, in the afternoon, Carter lost his ski and was unable to complete his second run and place overall. Chris Moodie finished his first race of the season (!!), placing 19th overall in the same division.

Our Level 2 girls team have been strong competitors all season, staying close on the tails of the St. Clements team. The girls finished second as a team, with Frederique Roy coming in 4th, Victoria Boisclair finishing 8th, and Verena Lefebvre coming in 18th. Congratulations ladies!

Finally, last but certainly not least, the Level 1 Girls teams continued their weekly routine of dominating on the course! A huge congratulations to the Level 1B Girls team who won their division again, way ahead of the other teams. Keely Matsusaki finished 1st in the division, followed by Josie Carr-Harris in 3rd, Jill Torsher in 5th, and Maria Schmucker in 14th. The Level 1A girls had a couple of tough breaks yesterday but still managed to pull off a 4th place finish. Philine Hoyer came 4th in the division, followed by Oona Goebbels in 5th, and Sara Hubble in 17th.

Coaches Mr. Andras and Ms. Brennan want to wish the Level 1A girls good luck as they travel to Blue Mountain in to compete in OFSAA!
