2016/17 Co-Head Students Announced!

The election to select the Co-Head Students for the 2016/17 year was held this week.

Trevor Smith and Sophie Welch were elected by their peers and staff in the vote that took place on Tuesday morning.

Trevor and Sophie both started their LCS careers in middle school - Sophie in Grade 7 and Trevor in Grade 8. Both Trevor and Sophie are excited about being selected as Co-Head Students and they are looking forward to leading the student body next year.

In Sophie’s candidate speech she described how she’s ready for a new adventure at LCS, “I love the way Lakefield welcomes everyone with open arms, and how everyone is accepted. Lakefield is more than a school, or symbolic red door, to many of us it’s a place we call home, and where lifelong memories are formed…Being your Head Girl would not be taken for granted. I bring experience, dedication, and a love for the school where I have grown up. I am fully committed to the role of Head Girl and can promise I will work hard to ensure the values of the Lakefield we love are upheld.”

In Trevor’s candidate speech he said, “.Throughout my time at LCS, I have had the chance to meet many new people and make friends from across the world. This is in part due to the countless spirit events I have gotten to participate in. I tackle new challenges, whether it be inside the classroom or out, with determination, hard work, and a sense of humour. As I spend more and more time at the school I have gotten more involved and have truly taken advantage of the many opportunities presented. I encourage everyone else to do the same as time here is very limited.”

The school community is also grateful for the participation of the other candidates in the election. Ross Hutchinson, Matthew Lovick, Andreea Pena and Tori Quick are to be commended for their service to the school. We look forward to the leadership by entire Class of 2017 next year!
