New Head of School Portraits

Historically, Lakefield College School has recognized past Heads of School who have devoted a significant amount of their careers to the school with a portrait. Three portraits, Alexander Mackenzie (1895 - 1938), G. Winder Smith (1940 - 1964) and Jack Matthews (1964 - 1971) have all been moved to the school’s dining hall and have been joined by Terry Guest (1971 - 1985) and David Hadden (1985 - 2008).

The portraits of Terry Guest and David Hadden were presented to the school at the Trustees’ Dinner on Saturday, October 29. The artist, Donata Szafian, was classically trained in a specialized high school in Hungary. She completed a degree in commercial Art, a second degree in industrial design in Budapest and a Masters in Jewellery Design. She has done further education and training in the UK and New York.  Donata also has the distinction of being married to LCS alumnus Simon Creasy, Class of 1991 - making her a member of the LCS family.

It was from hearing about Simon’s experiences and love for the school that she readily agreed to paint the portraits and she donated countless hours to the project. We are so grateful to her for this generous gift.
