Earth Day 2023 at Lakefield College School
Lakefield College School celebrated Earth Day on April 21, 2023, with a variety of activities aimed at raising awareness about environmental issues and promoting sustainable practices. The day was filled with exciting events and opportunities for students to engage outdoors and learn about ways to protect our environment.
Some of the activities that students participated in included tending to the school's beehives, outdoor yoga, frisbee golf, nature photography/art, a scavenger hunt, forest bathing, body scrub-making, games on Lefevre field, bushcraft, a bike ride, Scandinavian wood stacking, a fun run, climbing wall, fast fashion & thrift store, community garden preparation, dog walk on the trails, seed delivery to the local community, vegan/vegetarian cooking, garbage clean-up in Lakefield, canoeing, invasive species removal at Northcote, and tree planting at Northcote.
The activities were designed to encourage students to connect with nature, strengthen their collaboration skills, and gain a better understanding of the impact of human actions (both positive and negative) on the environment. The day's events were also an opportunity for students to work together and build a sense of community around environmental stewardship.
Overall, Earth Day at Lakefield College School was a great success, and we are proud of our students for their engagement and commitment to protecting the environment. As a school, we remain committed to promoting sustainable practices and raising awareness about environmental issues.
