Kiera: “This piece represents the changes in education that are being made that will continue into the future making the education system an environment with more room for creativity. I was driven to focus my piece on this topic as I think that it's very important and it's also relevant since many changes are happening right now. The book with gears represents the older system where there was not much room for creativity and the colours emerging in the background represent the improvements that are going to help the system flourish.

While I’m not a very experienced artist, most of my experience with visual arts comes from art classes in school. I enjoy post-impressionism works of art as well as contemporary pieces. I like experimenting with different medias in my artwork and mixing different things together in one piece. Recently, I’ve found that experimenting with the many techniques that can be used for paint and ink is very interesting which is what inspired me to create this piece with artists ink.”

Brennah: “They say yesterday is history, today is a gift, and that tomorrow is a mystery. Mystery and the unknowns of tomorrow are exactly what I am portraying here in my artwork. There are too many times in this world where people try to have a fixed idea of what tomorrow will bring or try to plan what will happen in intimate detail. Here I am trying to convey to the viewer that tomorrow will materialize right before your eyes as you are living it. It will take whatever form despite how much you try to mould it into a specific shape, the energies of the universe have their own will. In addition, my artwork is inspired by artist Miri Rozenvain, an 18 year old artist in France. Her use of organic materials, such as rocks and dirt, can be seen in my own work. This piece also uses some 3D elements as well as the organic materials previously mentioned to emphasize the idea of materializing in the foreground. In sum, I want my viewers to question themselves how they process the unexpected of what tomorrow brings.”
