Closing Chapel Keynote Address
"My hope today is that you feel the love in our community and that you reach out to one another in kindness. Let today be a beginning to even greater expressions of love, kindness and empathy."
As I reflect on this wonderful and weird year the most profound feeling I hold is gratitude. Gratitude to you all for everything you’ve given to your school this year. Gratitude for the integrity and honour you showed through good times and hard times.
Our Grade 11 class created a special video message for the Class of 2020, as a thank you for their inspirational leadership, courage and positive spirits.
Until our Class of 2020 can safely return to complete their grad jumps into Lake Katchewanooka, our Head of School and Heads of Houses jumped into the lake to symbolically hold their place.
This year, a candle was lit and named for every one of our graduates, in honour of our Closing Chapel tradition, that they may light the way for our community and wish everyone farewell.
Our Grade 10 teachers celebrated the Grade 10 class and reminded them of a lesson from the fall about throwing a rock into Lake Katchewanooka and reflecting on the ripple effect of their actions.
The Grade 11 class were thanked by their teachers for their patience, perseverance and accomplishments as they prepare for their leadership roles as grads in the 2020/21 school year.
