LCS Launches New Summer Programs
Lakefield College School has provided online summer courses for years, and we deepened our understanding of best practices in remote learning even more during the spring. We packaged credit courses and enrichment programming together to provide students with opportunities to have fun and enjoy the company of peers while they complete their course work.

2020 Peter Dalglish Art Award Recipient
Chelsea Yue '21 has been nominated as this year's Peter Dalglish Art Award recipient. The purpose of the Peter Dalglish Art Award is to inspire, encourage and recognize artistic talent at Lakefield College School by promoting promising young artists and their future contributions to art in Canada and beyond. In recognition of their father's affection for Lakefield College School, his love of the arts and his commitment to nurturing and supporting young artists, Geordie Dalglish ’89, and Kim Dalglish Abell, have established the Peter Dalglish Art Award funded by an endowed gift made in 2014.

The Lakefield Literary Festival Young Writers' Contest received 120 submissions, with Lakefield College School topping the list with the most submissions: a total of 41!

Creative Collaboration
Students and staff found ways to collaborate in creative and unique ways through Learning with Lakefield - Remotely such as a performance of
Toccata Fugue in D Minor by Syd Birrell and Ethan Webster '20, a staff performance of our school hymn,
Jerusalem, and the Remote School of Rock production of
All In This Together.

Perseverance and Grit with Adam Shoalts
Over 85 students and staff enjoyed hearing from renowned Canadian adventurer and author Adam Shoalts, who remotely visited our Outdoor Education class and shared tales of his adventures and wildlife and nature photography.

Nicole '21 Inspires Young Women in Computer Science
Nicole Liu '21 is an ambassador for the Hackergal Organization and provided the closing words to the 2020 Spring Hackergal Day webinar for young girls (Grades 7-9) who are interested in coding. Nicole contributes to our broader community by actively working to encourage young women to study computer science.

LEAF Team Finishes 2nd at 2020 Ontario Envirothon
The LEAF Team created a compelling 15-minute video to address Waste Diversion for the 2020 Ontario Envirothon Competition, placing 2nd overall.

Jonty '22 Makes Top 25 in Spark Photo Festival
Jonty Harris '22 made it into the Top 25 for consideration in the Juried Exhibit (theme: Motion) for the SPARK Photo Festival. This was originally planned to be on display and have the winners determined in April but has been postponed until a later date.

Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day
Students in the LEAF Club organized and launched Earth Week with daily challenges and themes dedicated to environmental stewardship, recognizing the importance of making positive impacts in our global community.

Camryn ’23 Makes Top 50 in International Song Contest
Camryn Eatmon '23 placed in the top 50 in the Young Songwriter 2020 competition in the international category with her song "Is This Love". The competition attracted over 700 entries from songwriters aged 8-18 across the world.

Connecting Globally Through Art
Grade 11 Visual Arts students created postcards which were submitted to Surface Gallery's annual International Postcard Show in Nottingham, UK. Catie Dobson '21, Fritz Fischer-Appelt '22, Luciana Tommasi '21 and Santiago Ramirez '21 each sold artwork at the show, which received over 350 postcards from around the world!

Antonia ’23 Wins Double Silver at the OFSAA Alpine Championship
Antonia von Achten '23 achieved two silver medals at the OFSAA Alpine Championship in Slalom and Giant Slalom.

First Annual Slam Poetry Coffee House
LCS students were invited to express their creativity and share their voice through spoken word poems at the first annual Seb Jones '13 Memorial Poetry Slam on February 22.

Alpine Ski Team Achieves CISAA gold
The Alpine Ski team competed in the CISAA Championship race where the School Trained Female team achieved gold and the overall CISAA Championship!

Annual Nordic Ski Invitational
We held our annual LCS Invitational Nordic Skiing Race with over 100 athletes participating from 7 schools, racing on our new ski trails for the first time.

Inspired to Encourage
Grade 10 students were inspired to spread encouragement and think about their global community as part of a student-led initiative to create postcards to send to volunteer firefighters in Australia.

Students shared their voice and gave back to the community in recognition of Bell Let's Talk Day and raising awareness about Canada's mental health.

3rd Annual Chinese Food and Culture Festival
This important annual tradition continues to grow and evolve. With humble beginnings, in 2018 we celebrated with 100 students in the Head of School’s residence, and in just three short years we have grown to feed 300+ in Hadden Hall.

Chelsea ’21 Wins Third in the International Space Art Competition
Chelsea Yue '21 won third place in the 10th Annual International Space Art Competition in the 17-18 age category. Chelsea received a prize pack from the Space Foundation and her artwork can be viewed on the International Space Foundation’s website for the year.

The fall production of CHICAGO: High School Edition was enhanced by a student-developed initiative to provide a digital program to audiences. Mr. Gordon's Computer Science class developed the
Chicago @ LCS app, available as a free download on the Apple Store, which included the program and biographies of the cast and crew.
