Farewell to the Class of 2023

Thank you to all LCS students, families, faculty, and staff for another incredible year at The Grove! On Saturday, June 17, we enjoyed a joyous celebration of the accomplishments and growth our students achieved throughout the 2022/23 academic year. One of the highlights of the ceremony was the captivating keynote address delivered by LCS parent and Canadian astronaut, Colonel Jeremy Hansen P ’23 ’24 ’24.

Under the big white tent, the LCS community gathered to witness this momentous occasion, relishing the opportunity to celebrate students across grade levels on another successful school year, full of athletic, academic, and artistic accomplishments. The picturesque backdrop of Lake Katchewanooka with its sparkling waters set the scene for a beautiful day.

Colonel Jeremy Hansen P ’23 ’24 ’24, renowned for his remarkable contributions to the field of space exploration, took the stage as the keynote speaker. Drawing from his own experiences as an astronaut, he shared inspiring insights about pushing the boundaries of human potential and emphasized the importance of perseverance and determination. Hansen's address resonated deeply with the audience, encouraging them to recognize their own limitless potential and strive for a better world.

“As you go forth, I want you to think about what you learned here [...] We are all immensely proud of you. I want you to celebrate this victory. This is a great win; you've done something incredible. And I want you to do three things: build a happy future; demonstrate gratitude; and contribute your gifts [to the world].” — Colonel Jeremy Hansen P ’23 ’24 ’24

Anne-Marie Kee, in her Closing Address, commended all students, from Grade 9s to graduates, for their remarkable achievements and their ability to adapt to unique challenges. She urged them to carry the lessons learned at LCS into the future, making a positive impact on the world.

“You are a class that is resilient, that celebrates others, that works hard, and you are a class that is generous, and understands the need to give back.” — Head of School and Foundation Anne-Marie Kee

As the LCS community bids farewell to the Class of 2023, there is an overwhelming sense of anticipation for the future. The school eagerly awaits the return of these graduates, hoping that they will bring with them cherished memories and an unwavering commitment to making a profound difference in the world.
