Ondaatje Challenge 2022 | 10km Run
The Ondaatje Challenge has a long and respected history at Lakefield College School and it consists of four distinct events (a 10km run, 15km bike ride, 3km solo paddle, and 800m swim) and three levels of recognition — a hearty handshake for those completing any of the four events, a certificate for those completing all four events, and the prestigious Ondaatje medal for the few that meet the time standard of excellence for all four events.
The Ondaatje Medal Challenge began with the 10km time trial on the Rotary Trail in Lakefield. The chilly spring weather was welcomed by students who were happy to have a refreshing breeze cool them down.

The next portion of the Ondaatje Challenge is a 15km bike ride on April 25, followed by a 3km paddle on May 11, and an 800m swim on May 30.
*The time standards for the Ondaatje Medal require students to finish each event within 10% of the average winning time from the last 10 years.

The “excellence” goal seemed just slightly out of reach but you all went for it anyway- that’s what it takes to succeed in life - just GO FOR IT ANYWAY!! Sometimes you’ll surprise yourself & ALWAYS you’ll learn something new about your capacity. Super proud!!
