Skiiers in France!

Jean-Baptiste Gault ’15 and Laurent Lefebvre ’15, both members of the LCS Alpine team, competed personally this past weekend in the Ski d’Or championships in La Clusaz, France. Ski d'Or is a nationwide annual ski competition organized by the Ecole du Ski Français - this competition enables ESF pupils to compete nationally.

Congratulations to Jean-Baptiste who won the parallel ski race in the Under 18 category! As described by Jean-Baptiste’s father Bernard, “On Saturday, 123 racers competed in the qualification stage, a two leg slalom where the first eight of each leg plus the 16 other best ranked would qualify for a parallel race to be held on Sunday. The slalom proved very challenging for many as more than half of the racers did not finish. Jean-Baptiste was disqualified in the first leg but was strong enough to qualify in 5th position in the second leg. Laurent was frustratingly unlucky, breaking one of his skis in the first leg and failing to qualify in the second leg because of inadequate replacement skis.  On Sunday, the 32 qualified racers competed in a parallel slalom and Jean-Baptiste won, beating his six direct opponents, wonderfully supported psychologically and tactically by Laurent. Who said that competitive skiing was not teamwork!”

Congratulations to Jean-Baptiste and Laurent for competing in this very exciting and challenging competition!
