Next Year's Co-Head Students Are Announced

The election to select the Co-Head Students for the 2015/16 year was held this week.

Cameron Maltman and Alex Westcott were elected by their peers and staff in the vote that took place on Thursday.

Alex has been at LCS for five years, and is a day student, while Cameron has been a day student since Grade 9. Both Alex and Cameron are excited about being selected as Co-Head Students and they are looking forward to leading the student body next year.

In Alex’ candidate speech she described how she’s ready for a new adventure at LCS, “After hearing different variations of the same piece of advice [during Chapel Speeches] I have come to conclude that there is a great deal of validity in this repetition and I have spent much of my career at Lakefield College School exercising that truth. I would also like to reveal that I am not quite finished in expanding my LCS experience and will continue to embrace all the vulnerability in trying new things.”

In Cameron’s candidate speech he said, “I believe LCS allows each of us to pursue our particular interests and enjoy the process of learning about ourselves. Each grade has its unique challenges and with every passing year at Lakefield, I have appreciated them even more. I am very excited for my grad year and helping others enjoy all the programs I have benefitted from. The community has been amazing to me, and I am thankful for the opportunity to make it amazing for others.”

The school community is also grateful for the participation of the other candidates in the election. Greg Bond, Nate Hough, Lexi Krocker and Sarah Mayo are to be commended for their service to the school. We look forward to the leadership by entire Class of 2016 next year!
