1st Boys’ Hockey
On the road, facing one of the top teams in the CISAA league - Crescent School - the boys in red and green knew they had to have a commitment to a high work rate and smart execution. Building on the silver medal last week at the St. Peter's Classic, the boys found a way to win with a score of 6-5.

Falling behind 2-0, Justin Gallant scored his first of two goals in the game.  Then, line mate Charles Jobin scored two goals of his own in a tremendous flurry in the second period. Joe Gennaro scored as well to help maintain the lead, then Keith Forsythe scored on a rocket from the point, the ultimate game winning goal.

Team defence, lead by senior goalie Neven Ferguson, held the opponents at bay, securing the win on he road.

1st Alpine Racing
The 1st Alpine Racing team began their set of early departures on Wednesday, January 18 for their first race of the season at Mansfield Ski Club. Training and dryland practices have clearly paid off as the team had an excellent day on the slopes. Despite the mild temperatures and soft snow, both courses held up fairly well.

The School-Trained female athletes (formally Level 1) won their race as a team with a combined 8 points. The next closest team had 41 points. Juliette Polito placed 1st overall, Philine Hoyer 2nd, Keely Matsusaki 5th, Roxane Piret 6th and Sarah Hubble 18th out of 50 racers! The School-Trained male skiers had a good day and learned a great deal. All of the boys are new to racing and they skied well in the challenging conditions. Kristian Paschalis placed 18th, Sam Bricker 25th, Magnus Hepburn 29th and Ethan Webster 34 out of the field of 60 racers.

In the Open Division (formally Level 2 - Club Trained Racers), Scott Thompson won the race by over 2 seconds with two exceptional runs, no one could catch him. Unfortunately Noah Story was having a fantastic run and lost his ski on the third last gates and DNF'ed. (Did not Finish) Despite the equipment malfunction Noah showed his potential with a fourth place finish in his second run. Anchor Chris Moody laid down two solid runs and placed 16th. Big potential for this small but strong team! Betsy Macdonnell had a solid first run but lost her ski near the bottom of her second run and DNF'ed.

The team will have training at Brimacombe on Friday evening followed by our next race on Wednesday, January 25 at the Alpine Ski Club in Collingwood.

Jr. Boys’ Basketball
The Jr. Boys’ Basketball team traveled to Toronto Montessori on Wednesday and after a hard-fought game, lost to TMS 42-24.  New to the team, exchange student Federico Biscaisaque had a great first game scoring 6 points while being one of our hardest fighting defenders.  The boys will host Rosseau Lake College next Wednesday in the McEwen Gymnasium.
