Career Day

Career Day is an annual tradition at The Grove providing students with an opportunity to make a connection between their academic interests and future professional endeavors. In addition to this learning opportunity, Career Day gives students, alumni, parents and friends the occasion to develop meaningful connections for the future.

Anna Gainey '96

Politics / Public Servant

Elected in 2023, Anna Gainey is the Member of Parliament for NDG-Westmount and proud to represent her community in the House of Commons. Anna has a strong track record of championing progressive values in government, public policy, and our democracy for over two decades.

Anna served as a policy advisor to two Ministers of National Defence and Veterans Affairs. As the President of the Liberal Party of Canada, her leadership was instrumental in bringing about the historic Liberal majority government in 2015. Before her time in Parliament, she also served as Executive Chair at Canada 2020—Canada’s leading independent progressive think tank.

Anna deeply believes in giving back to the community, and has been involved with several local and national volunteer organizations, such as WarChild Canada, the Pointe-à-Callière Museum, and La Fondation de l’Institut de Cardiologie de Montréal. She is also the founder of the Gainey Foundation, which has helped provide funding for environmental and arts education programs for young people.

Anna is a graduate of McGill and the London School of Economics (LSE), where she obtained degrees in Political Science and International Relations, respectively. For more than 15 years, she and her husband, Tom, have called Notre-Dame-de-Grâce—Westmount their home. In her free time, you can often find Anna at the rink, supporting her three kids' love of hockey or coaching her daughter's soccer team.

Anna is a tireless advocate for the priorities of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce—Westmount. In collaboration with Prime Minister Trudeau and the Liberal government, Anna is dedicated to building a stronger community and moving Canada forward for everyone.
