Career Day

Career Day is an annual tradition at The Grove providing students with an opportunity to make a connection between their academic interests and future professional endeavors. In addition to this learning opportunity, Career Day gives students, alumni, parents and friends the occasion to develop meaningful connections for the future.

Private Equity / Real Estate Investing

An optimistic, results-oriented and people-centred leader, advisor, director and investor, with a focus on strategy and growth, project development, stakeholder management, finance and governance across a number of industries.

Kristine Thompson is a leadership generalist who has held multiple, regional Chief Executive Officer positions in the Caribbean. She is the CEO of Rise Guyana Holdings, a recently formed private equity fund to invest in the oil boom economy that is Guyana. She just completed a 3 year stint at Cabot Saint Lucia, a world class golf resort and real estate community development currently underway on the island of Saint Lucia. Cabot Saint Lucia is part of the Canada-based Cabot group. Prior to this, Kristine held Chief Executive Officer roles at both Sunshine Snacks Ltd., a leading snack manufacturer in the region, and Canboulay Energy Capital, a private equity energy fund based in the Caribbean. She was also VP, Business Development at Guardian Holdings Ltd., a regional financial services conglomerate, for several years, focused on growth through acquisitions. Kristine has a passion for creating possibilities for strong linkages between the Caribbean and the developed world, thereby driving value creation, human capital development and economic growth.

Kristine is also a Co-Founder of Yay! Entertainment Limited, the franchise holder and operator of the Chuck E. Cheese’s family entertainment restaurant brand in Trinidad & Tobago and Suriname, with expansion planned throughout the Caribbean.

Kristine’s early career was spent in management consulting at the Boston Consulting Group in Toronto, New York, Buenos Aires and Australia in the areas of strategy, organizational development, mergers and acquisitions and process reengineering.

Kristine has served and continues to serve on many corporate and non-profit boards, and currently sits on the boards of Republic Financial Holdings and Republic Bank Ltd., and on Beverage Leadership Council of the Ansa McAl Group.

Kristine holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Queen’s University in Canada and a Masters in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School.
