Paula Martel-Richard '17

Investor Relations

Paula is a young Lakefield alumnus who recently graduated from HEC Montreal with a degree in finance. She is currently part of the Investor Relations team at Intact Financial Corporation. In her role as an analyst, she assists her team in providing key financial and strategic information to investors. She also works in providing upper management with insight on the company’s positioning in the market compared to peers, as well as movement from major investors. Every quarter, she works closely with the executive team in preparing the Earnings Release process, during which the financial information of the company goes public.

Prior to her position on the Investor Relations team, she completed five internships at Intact, joining Intact Investment Management in both the Fixed Income team and the Trading Desk before finding her way to Investor Relations. During her university years, she also worked as an ambassador for Intact at HEC, working closely with the talent acquisition team to promote the company with the goal of attracting top talent among students.

As a recent graduate, she will be able to give insight into what it’s like to work in the field of finance as a young person, the realities of young women working in a male dominated field, and what she wishes she knew before passing through the big red doors.
