Virtual Learning with LCS | Summer Academy and Programs 2021

Lakefield College School is offering a variety of online and blended learning courses to provide learners with the opportunity to earn a high school credit over the summer. Students can choose from a wide breadth of learning opportunities to enjoy. From seven-week interdisciplinary credits to four-week courses, there are options for a variety of learning styles.

After another unusual school year of on and off remote learning, students can benefit from summer programs to provide flexibility in their upcoming school schedule, bridge the summer learning gap, and reinforce key course material.

Create a Flexible Schedule

By taking a summer course, students create more space and flexibility in their class schedule during the academic year. This provides additional opportunities as students discover new interests and start to consider their post-secondary pathway. Guidance counsellors can help students ensure they are selecting courses that enhance and enrich their path to graduation.

Learn from Anywhere Around the World

Our online courses can be completed from anywhere in the world and allow students to virtually interact with a diverse group of peers and benefit from learning under the tutelage of incredible Lakefield teachers. The combination of synchronous and asynchronous learning creates a virtual community where students feel connected as they work together, in real-time, yet independent as they incorporate individual course work into their personal summer schedule.

Bridge the Summer Learning Gap

Summer courses can offer some structure and routine to the months-long break between academic school years. While the summer can provide a much-needed rest from the academic rigour of a full course load, it also removes students from a structured learning routine that can be difficult to re-establish in the fall. By taking a summer course, students can maintain a sense of structure and experience intellectual growth and stimulation, while also enjoying summertime activities and fun.

Some courses also require additional attention and focusing on one subject at a time can provide students with the mental clarity and time to better comprehend and retain academic material. This, in turn, can create a solid foundation for learning in the fall.

Our online and blended learning courses offer an exciting way to learn new information, develop skills, meet new people, and enrich your high school experience. We're excited to work with our students to find the best courses for them this summer.
