LCS Students Enter the Euclid Mathematics Contest

Written by: Russell Gordon

This week, 16 highly motivated Grade 11 and 12 students put their knowledge and skills to the test as they wrote the Euclid Mathematics Contest at Lakefield College School.

The Euclid mathematics contest, organized by the University of Waterloo, has run for more than twenty years and is a highly respected forum in which students can demonstrate their advanced understanding of senior-level high school mathematics. There are 10 problems in the contest, each worth 10 points, requiring participants to provide both short answer and long answer responses where completeness, clarity, and style of presentation all count.

Students write this contest both for their love of solving a good problem and to gain an edge in their admission decision with Waterloo. Simply writing the contest counts in a student’s favour but achieving highly can lead to a scholarship offer.

The results of this week's entries will be shared by the University of Waterloo in May. Stay tuned to hear about our top finishers!
