Ms. Connelly's Grade 11 Healthy Living and Outdoor Activities class has been practicing their whitewater canoeing skills for the past three weeks, preparing to put their knowledge to the test in Burleigh Falls. Through hard work and determination, they've gained confidence in their abilities to navigate the choppy rapids.
In loud, rushing water, communication skills are paramount. Students practiced working together as a team and using their verbal communication skills to make efficient paddling decisions. Every wave brings new possibilities and so it’s up to the students to determine how to best handle what nature brings their way.
Well done, everyone! The culmination of their learning will be put to the test during an overnight experience at Palmer Rapids.
