LCS Students Join the Circus (For a Day!)

As part of their exams, Mrs. Bemrose’s Junior, Intermediate, and Senior Dance classes attended workshops at the Peterborough Academy of Circus Arts. Students experienced an introduction to balancing, object manipulation, and aerial arts during their two-hour workshop with founder Thomas Vaccaro. Mrs. Bemrose was amazed at how students were willing to take risks and challenge themselves to grow as performers.

“I really enjoyed trying the silks and other Circus apparatuses. Thanks to Ms. Bemrose and the arts department, we had an incredible opportunity to spend our last period as a class stepping out of our comfort zones in a supportive environment and trying a unique style of performing arts. I learned that we are all capable of doing magical things if we try!” - Kate ’22

"For our final Grade 11/12 dance class this year we were able to experience the Peterborough Academy of Circus Arts. It was thrilling and daring! The most enjoyable part of this for me was using the silks. It allowed me to further my knowledge and skills with circus arts. As a dancer this allowed me to be creative in a different and unique way." - Ava ’22

“My favourite part was making the silk like a hammock—it was actually comfortable. I also did a flip; it was a little scary the moment when you roll down but overall I had so much fun there.” - Hana ’22

Mrs. Bemrose also looks forward to continuing her partnership between her dance classes and PACA.
