Athletics Action | Our 1st Regatta in 3 Years!

This week, our 1st Sailing Team participated in their first Regatta in three years! We were thrilled to welcome student-athletes from Brockville Collegiate Institute and Rosseau Lake College for an afternoon of sailing.

Congratulations to our students who achieved the following results:
2nd place: Dawn ’26 & Yukun ’25
4th place: Aidan ’25 & Liam ’24
5th place: Max ’23 & Abby ’23
7th place: Kassia ’24, Viktor ’25, & Will ’23
8th place: Willow ’24 & Nate ’24

When we first introduced specialized Team Racing to our sailing program in 2019, one of our goals was to host regattas and invite other schools to come to experience Lake Katchewanooka. It felt like a momentous occasion to finally realized this intention this week. We look forward to many more regattas to come!

The History of Sailing at LCS

"Rosseau Lake College and Lakefield College School have a history of competition in sailing, and the rebirth of the programs at both schools is at the forefront."

"This history extends to a trophy made from an old rudder that was rediscovered in our HOEC outdoor education building. The competition for this trophy, dubbed more recently as "The Rudder Classic," was an annual regatta between RLC and LCS, and was last contested in 1973."
