Celebrating LCS Faculty and Staff: A Heartfelt Appreciation Event

On Wednesday, February 6, Lakefield College School's faculty and staff were in for a heartwarming surprise as they gathered for what they thought was an all-staff meeting, only to discover it was actually a Faculty and Staff Appreciation event organized by LCS parents.

Upper Hadden Hall was transformed into a winter wonderland, decorated with whimsical decorations and “relaxation stations”. As they walked under the sparkling blue arch, they were greeted by the warm smiles of LCS parents. A delicious breakfast bar awaited, complete with steaming hot coffee to kickstart the day.

Amidst mingling and savouring the tasty treats, including fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, and muffins, the group gathered to hear heartfelt words of gratitude from Kim Blackwell P ’24 and Ms. Kee. Their appreciation for the tireless efforts of LCS faculty and staff in nurturing and guiding students along their educational journey resonated deeply with the group.

As families, we see you and we acknowledge all the work, above and beyond, each of you put in to making our children’s experiences unforgettable in these halls and houses and fields. We know you sacrifice time with your own families, your nights, your weekends, your days off, and we are grateful. Whether you are teaching, or working to support the mission of our School - you are amazing at meeting our kids where they are, pushing them outside their comfort zones to be the best version of themselves.
— Kim Blackwell P ’24

Adding to the warmth of the occasion, a group of students surprised everyone with a rendition of a classic LCS favourite, "Sweet Caroline”.

As faculty and staff departed to continue their day, they were met with tokens of appreciation—a gift of chocolates, tea, and a generous gift card to the school store. Excitement buzzed as everyone eagerly awaited the results of the raffle, with enticing prizes ranging from Nutty Bean Gift Baskets to tickets for the 4th Line, and an iPad!

Beyond the tangible gifts, the event was a testament to the strong sense of community at LCS. Dozens of parents took the opportunity to express their gratitude on a KudoBoard, leaving heartfelt messages that served as a reminder of the impact faculty and staff have on the lives of students and families alike.

This event was a beautiful reminder of the bonds that unite the LCS community and how we all work together to create a positive environment where students, faculty and staff thrive.

Thank you to all of our parents who contributed their kind words, gifts, and creative energy to help make this the special event that it was; it was a highlight of our community’s week!
