Athletics Action | Curling, Volleyball, Basketball, and more!

While the end of the winter athletics season is fast approaching, we enjoyed a week brimming with athletic achievements as our teams showcased their skills across a variety of sports. They are eager to showcase the growth they’ve made over the past few weeks as championship tournaments and events are around the corner.

Curling

Our Curling teams emerged victorious, securing three impressive wins this week! Their unwavering commitment to the sport has propelled them into the spotlight, and they’re now poised for a shot at the championship in the full-season tournament.

Special recognition goes to the new players who joined the Curling team this year. Despite being relative newcomers to the sport, they’ve already made a significant impact. Their willingness to learn and dedication have been instrumental in the team’s success. Our curling program thrives on camaraderie, and these fresh faces have seamlessly integrated into the fold. Let’s cheer the entire team on as they chase the title of champions, leaving their mark on the icy lanes of the curling rink.

Senior Girls' Volleyball

Our 1st Girls' Volleyball team ventured to Niagara for a series of intense matches against triple-A public schools to prepare for playoffs. Combining practice with Eden High School, they faced a challenging game and emerged victorious with a 4-1 win against Niagara's rep team, the Rapids. The night concluded with a mesmerizing view of the falls.

Junior Boys' Basketball

On the court, our Junior Boys' Basketball team displayed dominance, defeating Holy Trinity School with an impressive score of 50-19. Top scorers Irving ’26, Henry ’26, and Myers ’26 led the charge, supported by outstanding rebounding from Jordan ’27 and Leon ’27, as well as stellar defense from Masa ’27. With their eyes set on victory, the team is gearing up for a quarter-final playoff game at Ridley College.

Snowboarding

Our 1st Snowboard Racing Team has been carving up the slopes with exceptional skill and determination, securing spots at OFSAA and an SBX Invitational in Collingwood next week. With both the girls' and boys' teams qualifying for OFSAA, the stage is set for excitement. Individual standouts include Alex ’25, Nicola ’25, Isabelle ’26, Nora ’26, Ashwyn ’24, Willow ’24, Thomas ’26, Jack ’24, and Quin ’24, who have showcased their talent and dedication throughout the season.

We are eager to see what the last few weeks of winter athletics have in store for our students. Stay tuned for more exciting updates and victories from the LCS athletics community!
