Bullets Over Broadway: Winter Musical Theatre at Lakefield College School

Congratulations to the 75 cast, crew, directors, designers, and musicians involved in this year’s winter musical, Bullets Over Broadway, performed this week at the Bryan Jones Theatre. With four packed performances for over 1,000 audience members, including peers, faculty, staff, families and friends of LCS, the production was nothing short of phenomenal. The shows were received positively by the audiences who laughed and cheered throughout each performance.

From the opening number—Tiger Rag—to the final curtain call—Yes! We Have No Bananas—our students' performance was a tour de force of singing, dancing, and acting. The show featured 24 musical numbers played by a 15-piece live jazz band. Everyone brought a stunning level of skill and professionalism to the stage.

The set design and costumes were also noteworthy, with many intricate details from the 1920s that brought the production to life. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the show, from the props to the lighting, which enhanced the mood and tone of each scene. Incorporating a live band this year gave our instrumental music students the chance to work with some of the best professional players in the region. It was a truly authentic and rewarding experience for them and it added so much to the production. Our cast and crew’s ability to work together as a team and execute such a complex production with finesse was truly impressive. Congratulations to everyone involved!

Participation in musical productions of this magnitude has many benefits for our students. They not only hone their performance skills but also achieve invaluable personal and interpersonal growth, including teamwork, time management, self-discipline, and confidence-building, providing them with important skills for their future endeavours.

Overall, the success of Bullets Over Broadway is a true testament to the hard work, dedication, and talent of our students and staff. The production showcased the best of what our teens have to offer, and we can't wait to see what they do next.

See more from Bullets Over Broadway!
