First Week Highlights

It is hard to believe that we just completed our first week of classes and co-curricular activities here at The Grove. Orientation week allowed our students to bond, interact and become comfortable with each other and their new surroundings before diving into classes, co-curricular programming and clubs.

We were curious to know how our students were feeling after their first week of full programming and so we asked a few of them what their highlight of the week has been. Here is what they said:

  • “On Wednesday, giving out the extra crème brûlée desserts to staff members that the Culinary Arts group made in class.” -Dasha Egudkina, Grade 12

  • “I liked the lockdown drill where we were in the canoes, paddled to shore and then ran into the outpost.” -Santiago Marenco, Grade 9

  • “Getting a part in the fall musical to be on stage instead of stage manager!” - Amy Qian, Grade 11

  • “Loved Guitar Club!” - Ashley Kang, Grade 10, Minah Bae, Grade 9 and Jennifer Yang, Grade 11

  • “Going to the Entrepreneurship Club on Thursday night. It was very interesting.” -Ximena Castro, Grade 12 and Julia Ruiz, Grade 10

  • “Rec. tennis was awesome.” - Yaming Cheng, Grade 10

  • “Making chocolate mousse, crème brûlée and ginger cookies in Culinary Arts club.” - Joey Osborne, Grade 9

  • “Because I’ve been here for 2 years, I can be helpful to the new girls in Grove and the school.” - Heather Park, Grade 12

  • “Getting to know people in Uplands House.” - Jose Sacal, Grade 11 and Dylan Becker, Grade 10

  • “I really liked the Paper House sorting event; going down to the waterfront with my friends and tipping canoes in OE class.” - James Battis, Grade 10

  • “Everything is good!” -Echo Li, Grade 10

  • “My house, my classes...everything is great!” - Jack Sasson, Grade 10

  • “The Jr. Boys’ Soccer game and the 1st Boys’ Soccer game were so much fun!” -Jeewoo Lee, Grade 9, Alan Merikanskas, Grade 10 and Moises Mischne, Grade 11

  • “Had a good time at the field hockey tournament and the dance was a blast!” - Rachel Leung, Grade 12

We were so happy to hear the details surrounding some of the experiences that our students shared with us. A good sign that they are settling into their new classes, making friends, and having some fun.
