A Trip to the Theatre

By Geoff Bemrose

Our LCS drama students participated in a wonderful opportunity where they experienced, first hand, the many elements involved in professional live theatre. Thanks to LCS Foundation Trustee Nancy Smith's generosity, the cast and crew of the fall musical, Damn Yankees, were able to travel to the Shaw Festival in Niagara on the Lake, where they attended workshops with some of the actors and experienced three fantastic productions - Saint Joan, Androcles and the Lion and the musical Me and My Girl

The trip included dining and question and answer sessions with the actors and crew who work at the Shaw, a backstage tour and workshops in stage management and dance.

All of our students came away inspired after having learned a great deal about what it takes to work in the professional theatre business. A fantastic trip!

We are looking forward to presenting Damn Yankees in the Bryan Jones Theatre at LCS, November 28 - December 1.
